JASON SIFF ~ UNLEARNING MEDITATION: WHAT TO DO WHEN THE INSTRUCTIONS GET IN THE WAY (Shambhala Publications)

Jason Siff is the Cofounder of the Skillful Meditation Project based in the Los Angeles area. He teaches regularly at the Barre Center for Buddhist Studies, Cloud Mountain, and the Esalen Institute. He also leads retreats in Los Angeles, Vermont, Washington, New Mexico, and Australia. This is his first book.

When we meditate, our minds often want to do something other than the meditation instructions we’ve been taught. When that happens repeatedly, we may feel frustrated to the point of abandoning meditation altogether. Jason Siff invites us to approach meditation in a new way, one that honors the part of us that doesn’t want to do the instructions. He teaches us how to become more tolerant of intense emotions, sleepiness, compelling thoughts, fantasies—the whole array of inner experiences that are usually considered hindrances to meditation. The meditation practice he presents in Unlearning Meditation is gentle, flexible, permissive, and honest, and it’s been wonderfully effective for opening up meditation for people who thought they could never meditate, as well as for injecting a renewed energy for practice into the lives of seasoned practitioners.

LEIGH WUNCE NC, MEDICAL INTUITIVE ~ ASTRO NIGHT

As we are exposed to higher levels of cosmic rays, our perception of 2010 finds closure with the Full Moon Eclipse expressing through  Sun in Sag and Moon in Gemini at 29 degrees just hours before entering the Winter Solstice on 12-21-2010.

Dusty Bunker’s, Numerology and the Divine Triangle, interprets the 29/11 energy as a learning period with help offered.  So it is thought provoking to note that the Full Moons in Nov, Dec, Jan and Feb all fall in a rare pattern of 29 degrees.  2010 equals a 3 vibration, symbolizing joy/fear.   Since numbers represent universal principles, where might we need to unify our thoughts and feelings to hold the flow of joy in our lives?  The numerology of the Solstice on 12-21-2010  is  3 + 3 + 3 = 9.  The number 9 represents unity and serving humanity while holding the pattern of the 3 energy, which again puts an emphasis on our expression of joy.

The Venus retrograde in Scorpio hopefully has helped to define your inner peace, in order to become a “conscious entrepreneur” for the collective peace.  Even though Venus has gone direct we are still working in her shadow until just before the eclipse.

So bring your astrology chart so you can observe where your “conscious entrepreneur” might need to define itself. This is a convenient time to buy an astrological calendar or a yearly ephemeris to support Gateways.  My favorite is the Pocket Astrologer by Jim Maynard.
